Phonographer: David Ascanio - ornithologist


iPod Use For Field Work (2:58) David Ascnio is an authority on the birds of Venezuela. Having grown up in Venezuela he has, since the age of 7, had a passion for the field of ornithology. He has created the leading library of bird vocalizations in his country with over 500 hours of native bird recordings. 

Ascnio has been guiding treks and birding tours since 1984, including Guyana, Suriname, Panama, the ABC islands, Trinidad and Tobago and the Amazon River across PerĂº, Colombia and Brazil. In addition to many trips, David was appointed to the board of directors of the Sociedad Venezolana de Ecoturismo and was elected last decade to join the board of directors of the Sociedad Audubon de Venezuela.
